We are very proud to be able to announce that three of our young people from Barking and Dagenham have been selected to attend the 24th World Scout Jamboree in 2019.
The successful trio, Amelia (Explorer), George (Explorer) and Zak (10/18th Scouts) will go to West Virginia, USA in the Summer of 2019 to a World Scouting event jointly hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, Scouts of Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico.
As a part of a group of 36 young people representing Greater London North East (Unit 23), Amelia, George and Zak will be working together to raise over £3,800 each over the next 18 months. The fee will contribute to their attendance at the event but also contributes to Scouts from other less fortunate countries allowing them to attend, supporting the aim of the Jamboree ‘Unlock a New World’.
The World Scout Jamboree is a unique, international adventure shaped by young people with the key themes being Friendship, Experience and Adventure. It is about Scouts from across the world, coming to spend time together, to have fun, and to look at issues that are important to everybody, encouraging them to grow and development as leaders, life-long learners, and have a positive impact on the global and their local communities.
Amelia, George and Zak are planning various fundraising events and activities, and as a District we are working hard to help them achieve their goal.
If you can help us in any way, your support and encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Any support you are able to provide would be very welcome and especially valued by the amazing young people who will be representing our District in North America.
With your help, support and commitment we can change the lives of our participants forever, and in doing so contribute to helping change local, national and international communities now and well into the future. Click on any one of their images to be taken to our own GoFundMe page to pledge your support.
